Chances are if you're here (at grips4less) you have an understanding of the importance of re-gripping. If you're not completely sure though, not to worry. You're not alone (67% of golfers never re-grip).
Why re-gripping is so important.
Re-gripping is a critical part of playing golf because your golf grips are the only point of contact you actually have with your golf club. This means 2 things:
1 - As you swing, the grip gets worn down over time.
This happens from sweat from your hands/glove, UV rays from the sun, dirt/oil/dust from the environment. Golf grips are from made permeable materials. Which means they change in stability and traction, and will experience natural wear and tear.
2 - As the grip wears down, the torque changes.
Torque is the amount of twisting that happens in the grip as you swing. The higher the torque, the more twisting. Higher torque will be immensely damaging to the performance of your swing and contribute to off-center strikes and decrease in shot accuracy.
What about putter grips?
Putter grips are the most frequently touched, most used and overlooked piece of equipment in the bag. Because putter grips are used once, twice, and unfortunately sometimes three or four times per green, they deserve far more attention and care than they typically get. Putting is the key to scoring, and good putting requires confidence. That’s why you need to select a putter grip size, shape, and material that perform best for you. Once you’ve made your selection, you need to clean the putter grip just as you do all other grips in the bag, to maintain that original tacky feel. Nothing is more individualistic and feel-based than putting, so look for the putter grip that suits your personal preference, and helps you take the dreaded 3-putt out of your repertoire.
